After you’ve gotten into Ketosis and become fat adapted, it’s time to start thinking about beginning to Master your Keto way of eating. When starting a Keto Diet, most people take some short cuts that lead to less than ideal foods or habits. We believe that Lazy and Dirty Keto is better then No Keto. But you’ve got to know that Great Keto is even better. Let’s work on making your Keto Great!
Here are some ways that you can improve your Keto Diet:
Just pick a few things at a time to upgrade. As you gain a greater mastery of the Keto Diet, your way of eating will get easier and become even more satisfying. As you master Keto, you’ll thrive in ways you never imagined possible.
Master Keto & Nutrition Knowledge
The more you know about ketosis and the Keto Diet, the easier it is to thrive. Here I’ve included some of my favorite articles and books. My articles are free, and the books written by others have an affiliate link for your convenience.
What is the Keto Diet and Why Does it Work? I wrote this article as the definitive keto article.
Essential Reading. These four books shaped my way of eating and eventually led me to the Keto Diet. If you want to fully understand how we got fat and sick and how and why a High-Fat, Low-Carb diet works, read (or listen to) these four books in the order they are presented.
For your convenience, each book cover image is linked to Amazon where you can purchase an audio book, e-book, or hard-copy.
These are affiliate links and when you make a purchase through one of these links on Amazon, we make a small commission at no additional cost to you. Thank you for your support.
Better Keto Foods
When we start a keto diet, we all tend to take some shortcuts on food choices. Even with that truth, never underestimate the health benefits of better quality food.
Some of these are inexpensive and others are a bit pricey. Upgrade your food as it fits in your budget. Each image has a convenient affiliate link.
Primal Mayo. If mayonnaise is part of your Keto way of eating, do yourself a huge solid by upgrading to this good fat mayo. The fewer damaged seed oils in your diet, the better you are going to feel because of the reduced inflammation caused by those bad oils.
Thrive Market. I’ve been a customer at Thrive Market for years. They have great prices on the kinds of high quality food and products that are so hard to find locally, and sometimes even hard to find on Amazon. Usually, their prices beat Amazon which is an added bonus. My supply of Primal Mayo comes from Thrive Market, along with the rest of my monthly box of Keto supplies.
Better Meat. The quality of your meat and the fat in that meat is so important to your health. Look for local, organic, naturally raised meat and get to know and love your local farmer. If you can’t find high quality meat locally, check out ButcherBox.
Collagen. My husband and I use this daily. We put a tablespoon or so in our first cup of coffee each day. I honestly believe that this high quality collagen, combined with a Keto Diet, is what stopped my husband’s arthritis pain. Try it for two months and let me know the results of your “experiment of one”.
Better Wine. Some days, I save my carbs for wine. But all wines are not created equal. I used to order my wine from Dry Farm Wines because they had no added sugar and were chemical and additive free. Recently, Thrive Market started carrying the same high quality wine at a significant discount. If some days you too save your carbs for wine, you should check out Thrive Market.
These are the Keto and kitchen tools that I use regularly. These tools make my life easier by saving me time and stress, and that’s worth a lot. Each of these Keto tools include convenient Amazon affiliate links.
Ketone Blood Meter. I often say that a Keto diet is an ‘experiment of one’ as you learn how your specific body reacts to various foods. A Ketone Blood Meter is much more accurate than the Ketone Test Strips that I recommended in the Keto Beginner Resource list. If you really want to know how life affects your ketosis, a blood meter is the way to go.
Instant Pot. If you don’t have a digital pressure cooker yet, you need one. Really, You Need One. This makes my life so much easier and it will yours too. If you already have one, get yourself a set of Instant Pot accessories that will spark your culinary imagination with countless other Keto friendly things you can quickly and easily cook in your InstaPot. The egg rack for hard boiled eggs is priceless!
Air Fryer. The kids and I got my husband one of these for Christmas this year. He’s hard to buy gifts for, and we weren’t sure how this would go over with him. He loves his game-day keto hot wings, and we thought maybe he’d love this keto gift. Well, he does and so do I! Our reservations were unfounded. We all cook in this Air Fryer, because it’s super fast and super easy to cleanup. This makes our life easier which makes it a great Keto Tool. We’ve cooked everything from cheese sticks to salmon fillets to cheesecake in this baby. For real.
Ninja Blender / Food Processor. I’ve had a lot of nice food processors in my life. I love to cook and a good food processor is a life changer. I got the Ninja System for Christmas (yes, I’m spoiled), and it’s blown me away. I use it all the time, but where it shines is making those thick fat bombs. This is the best food processor I’ve ever had, and it will be the same for you.
Congratulations on being ready to start Mastering Keto!
Honestly, I’m so happy for you.
Not only have you settled into your Keto Diet, now you’re looking to upgrade. That’s so exciting.
Don’t stress too much about trying to do all of this at once. Instead, just do what you can, when you can. Every Keto upgrade that you make will have an impact on your health and how you feel.
These upgrades are going to take the benefits of Keto to the next level.
